Mudashiru Obasa, speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, announced his intention to run for the Agege Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the upcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries.

He made the announcement on Tuesday at a stakeholders’ meeting in Agege, Lagos, noting that local APC leaders had urged him to contest the federal legislative seat.

At the same meeting, the speaker called on party members and stakeholders to back former Agege Local Government Council chairman Ganiyu Egunjobi, who is vying for the Agege Constituency I seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

He also endorsed Azeez Oladapo Yusuf Ninolowo for the Agege Constituency II seat in the state assembly.

The announcement is expected to intensify political activity in Agege as candidates continue consultations and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the APC primaries.

Supporters and party loyalists throughout Agege and Orile‑Agege have stepped up efforts to mobilise delegates and residents as the contest for party tickets gains momentum.

Meanwhile, APC members in Agege, Orile‑Agege and other parts of Lagos State await the results of the ongoing screening exercise being carried out by the party’s state and national leadership ahead of the primaries.
