Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, Director‑General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), cautioned Corps Members against participating in political campaigns, rallies, or any activity that could link them to a political party.

The warning was delivered to the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Corps Members during the NYSC Lagos State Orientation Camp in Iyana‑Ipaja.

General Nafiu stressed that the NYSC is a non‑partisan organization and that Corps Members must refrain from political involvement. “Do not involve yourselves in the campaigns of any political party. Keep NYSC separate from politics. You must stay away from political matters,” he said.

He also urged the Corps to use social media responsibly, warning against cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and cyber fraud. “If you are found guilty, you will face repercussions. Exercise caution in your social media usage,” he warned.

The Director‑General highlighted the promising futures of Corps Members and encouraged them to avoid negative influences. He advised financial prudence, developing a savings habit, and maintaining disciplined conduct.

General Nafiu encouraged Corps Members to use their service year to promote national unity by forming lasting friendships across cultural boundaries. He also promoted participation in the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program and suggested exploring investment opportunities in the capital market to secure their financial future.

He noted that the formal launch of the NYSC/Kudimata Capital Market Awareness Sensitization Programme in Lagos is intended to equip Corps Members with essential knowledge of the capital market. “This program is designed to empower you with financial literacy and investment capabilities,” he said. “It will also enable Corps Members to make well‑informed financial choices,” he added.
