The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) – Kano State Command – announced that its forces intercepted a kidnapping attempt and cattle‑rustling plot in Kiru Local Government Area of Kano State.

According to a statement from the command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, the incident began when armed attackers assaulted a shepherd, seriously injured him, and seized his two children while trying to steal livestock.

Based on intelligence, NSCDC personnel stationed near the Dansoshiya Forest moved quickly to the scene and engaged the suspects in a gunfight. The superior firepower of the NSCDC forces forced the attackers to abandon the kidnapped children and flee into the forest, suffering injuries in the process.

The rescued children were identified as Abubakar Saleh, 36, and Muhammed Inuwa Dille, 30, who were reunited with their families. The injured shepherd, 70‑year‑old Alhaji Saleh, was transported to a health centre for immediate medical care.
