The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Lagos State Command has positioned 2,150 officers and personnel throughout the state in preparation for the upcoming Sallah celebration. The deployment aims to reinforce security, protect lives, and safeguard critical national assets and infrastructure.
Command officials say the large‑scale presence also seeks to deter vandalism and other criminal activity before, during, and after the festive period.
Lagos State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, announced the move in a statement on Tuesday. He explained that the proactive deployment was prompted by the expected surge of visitors and travelers to Lagos during the holiday.
Keshinro described the operational measures the command has put in place to curb crime and ensure the safety of residents, property, and strategic facilities across the state.
“All personnel across the various formations of the command have been directed to bring the necessary operational focus to bear in safeguarding critical infrastructure, including strategic installations, rights of way, oil pipelines, religious centres, recreational facilities, parks and gardens, as well as other national assets within Lagos State,” Keshinro said.
He also instructed officers to remain on heightened alert while performing their duties, urging them to maintain professionalism and respect for citizens’ rights throughout the operation.
In addition, Keshinro extended his wishes to the Muslim faithful on the occasion of Sallah, encouraging them to reflect on the values of sacrifice, devotion, compassion, and faith exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
He appealed to residents to use the festive period to pray for national unity, peace, and continued progress in Nigeria.
