Northwest University Sokoto has announced the official cut‑off marks for admission to its undergraduate programmes for the 2026/2027 academic year.

The university’s Admissions Unit released the figures ahead of the new session.

Abdullah el‑kurebe, Director of Information, Public Affairs and Protocol, said that most programmes will admit candidates who score at least 150 on the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This threshold applies to a broad range of courses in the sciences, social sciences, management and education.

Professional and health‑related courses have higher requirements because of their competitive nature. Medicine and Surgery has the highest cut‑off at 200. Common and Islamic Law are set at 180, while Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing Science, Doctor of Physiotherapy, Public Health and Radiography each have a cut‑off of 160.

Programmes with a 150 cut‑off include Accounting, Biology, Business Administration, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Economics, Information Technology, Library and Information Science, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology, Software Engineering and Special Education.

el‑Kurebe confirmed that the cut‑offs were approved and released by the Admissions Unit. He urged applicants to verify the specific requirement for their chosen course before submitting an application.

“Prospective students are advised to check the specific cut‑off for their chosen programme before applying,” the university added. “Meeting the cut‑off mark qualifies candidates for the next stage of the admission process but does not guarantee automatic admission.”
