Anthony Sani, former Secretary General of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), said on Friday that voters in the North are unlikely to support the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the 2027 election.

Sani explained that the North adheres to a zoning principle and intends to regain the presidency in 2031, which is why it would not back Atiku in 2027.

Speaking to DAILY POST, the ACF scribe added that the South wishes to conclude its eight‑year term in line with the spirit of zoning.

According to Sani, the North would face accusations of undermining the zoning arrangement if it voted for Atiku in 2027.

He stated: “I have told you that the South would like to finish their eight years in spirit of zoning. As a result southerners would not vote for former VP Atiku.”

“And because the North respects zoning and hopes to produce the President in 2031, northerners would not vote Atiku lest they be accused of stifling zoning.”
