‘No cause for alarm’, Nasarawa NDC tells members, as party appeals deregistration ruling

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has assured members and its teeming supporters in Nasarawa State that it has filed an appeal against the Lokoja High Court’s ruling, with a motion for a stay of execution and an injunction also served on the INEC Chairman, accompanied by a covering letter.

In a press release issued in Lafia on Tuesday by the party’s State publicity secretary, Comrade Danjuma Joseph, said that NDC remains a duly registered political party in Nigeria, as it has taken part in all electoral processes to date, and candidates have emerged for various offices nationwide through primaries duly observed, monitored, and recorded by INEC.

“At the moment, our National Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, who is re-contesting for the Bayelsa West Senatorial seat, and our Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, were yesterday, Monday, uploaded to the INEC portal”.

“The upload for our Vice Presidential Candidate, Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will be completed today. The process for other candidates is also ongoing,” the statement reads.

That party, however, clears the air by stating that no court has ordered INEC to deregister the NDC, as the matter before the court relates only to the party’s logo, not its legal status as a registered party.

“We call on all our candidates, members and supporters to remain calm and unwavering. NDC is here to stay, and we are fully engaged in the electoral process towards 2027,” the party explained.
