Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North Senatorial District, has called the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) a “house of thieves” after former chief financial officer Umar Aliya made allegations during a Senate Public Accounts Committee session.

Aliya, speaking while the committee investigated claims that the company had misappropriated trillions of naira, said that certain officials were attempting to secure employment for their children at the state‑owned firm.

Oshiomhole reacted angrily, stating that NNPCL has no reputation and that those officials were only interested in benefiting their families from the company’s alleged financial crimes.

He said, “I heard you saying that people want their children to be employed in NNPC; that is because it is a house of thieves and they want their children to benefit from it.”

“NNPCL has no reputation, your reputation is for fraud. How can you sit down here and say people want their children employed in NNPCL? So you think we are joking here?”

Oshiomhole’s remarks have sparked discussion on social media, with some netizens praising his boldness.
