NNL: Sunshine Stars Name Udi New Technical Adviser

Sunshine Stars have announced former Super Eagles midfielder Duke Udi as their new technical adviser, according to Completesports.com.

Banjo Adepoju was also named the new head coach of the Owena Waves.

The announcement ceremony was held at the club’s camp on Oda Road in Akure and was officiated by Mr. Divine Ogbonnaya, Chairman of the Ondo State Football Agency.

The event drew key figures from the state’s football community.

Attendees included a board member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Chief Dele Ajayi, Chairman of the Ondo State Football Association, members of the FA board, management officials, and other football stakeholders.

During the ceremony, Mr. Ogbonnaya urged Duke Udi to stay focused on the tasks ahead and avoid any distractions as the club pursues its objectives in the upcoming NNL campaign.

Mr. Ogbonnaya reiterated the agency’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for the technical crew and players, emphasizing that the ultimate goal is a successful season and the return of Sunshine Stars FC to Nigeria’s elite football clubs.

In a goodwill message, Chief Dele Ajayi confirmed that the Ondo State Football Association would continue to collaborate with the ODSFA to promote football development and support the club’s bid to regain promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Udi expressed gratitude to the Ondo State Football Agency and Sunshine Stars FC management for the confidence placed in him and assured stakeholders that he would do everything possible to guide the team back to the top flight.

Head Coach Banjo Adepoju pledged to work closely with the technical crew and to select players strictly on merit as the club prepares for the new season.

Earlier, Sunshine Stars U-19 players and officials were treated to a colourful reception following their impressive performance at the 2026 President Federation Cup.

Although the team was eliminated by Barau FC, they were commended for their remarkable run to the Round of 16, having defeated several highly-rated opponents during the competition.
