The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has introduced WhatsApp and live‑chat support channels to streamline customer service and simplify access to National Identification Number (NIN) queries for Nigerians and legal residents.

In a statement released Monday, the Commission said the new channels are part of its ongoing digital transformation and service‑reform programme under Director‑General and Chief Executive Officer Abisoye Coker‑Odusote.

NIMC explained that the platforms are intended to deliver faster, more convenient, real‑time assistance, reducing the need for in‑person visits to its offices.

According to the commission, users can now obtain help via the live‑chat feature on the official NIMC website and through the official WhatsApp support line +234 701 566 6971.

The move, the commission noted, aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to boost public‑service efficiency through technology‑driven solutions.

The platforms will provide prompt answers to queries, real‑time guidance, and verified information on NIN services and identity‑management issues.

The reforms championed by Coker‑Odusote are designed to broaden access to identity services, strengthen public confidence, and improve operational efficiency across the commission’s activities.

NIMC also urged Nigerians and legal residents to use only its official communication channels and to stay alert to misinformation and fraudulent schemes.
