Nigerian‑born winger signs with Dutch club FC Utrecht

FC Utrecht announced the permanent signing of Emmanuel Chigozie Owen, according to Completesports.com.

Owen, who moved to Utrecht from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, signed a four‑year contract.

While several clubs expressed interest in the striker, he chose Utrecht’s project and long‑term plans.

Owen aims to establish himself at the highest level of the game.

“The first time I came here, it immediately felt like a warm bad,” he told the club’s official website.

“I think I’m strong on the ball and I can physically do my part well. I am someone who is creative and loves to create opportunities, assists and goals.”

“My goal is to adapt as quickly as possible here in the Netherlands. I want to play as much as possible. Whether that is at Jong FC Utrecht or the first team, it doesn’t really matter to me at the moment. I want to develop myself.”
