Nigerian Army Calls for Transparency Ahead of 91st Regular Recruitment Exercise

As the Nigerian Army readies for its 91st Regular Recruits Intake, Major General I.M. Abdullahi, the Chief of Administration, Army (COA), has instructed all officers involved in the recruitment to maintain the highest levels of professionalism, transparency, and accountability.

Captain Abubakar Umar Hammanga, acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations at the Directorate of Recruitment in Abuja, reported that the COA made this directive public while opening the coordinating conference for the intake at the Army War College Nigeria.

Under the theme “Strategies for a Transparent, Merit-Based Nigerian Army Recruitment Process,” Maj. Gen. Abdullahi emphasized that a merit‑based system rooted in integrity, transparency, and accountability is essential. He said such an approach would improve the recruitment process and shape the quality of personnel entering the service.

He also highlighted the importance of appointing temporary recruitment officers to ensure full compliance with enlistment policies and regulations, and to guarantee equitable representation from all geopolitical zones.
