Nigeria is set to host the 2026 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards ceremony as well as the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly, according to Completesports.com.
The 2026 CAF Ordinary General Assembly is scheduled for October.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu gave approval for Nigeria’s bid to host both events during the Africa Forward Summit taking place in Nairobi, Kenya, after a meeting with CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe.

Also in attendance at the meeting were Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs Bianca Odumegwu‑Ojukwu; the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON); CAF President’s Special Adviser, Amaju Melvin Pinnick (OFR); and CAF Acting General Secretary, Samson Adamu.
The awarding of hosting rights highlights Nigeria’s expanding influence in African football and its commitment to fostering the sport’s development throughout the continent.
The CAF Ordinary General Assembly convenes senior figures in African football, including the presidents of CAF’s 54 member associations, representatives of the six zonal unions, and other high‑ranking football officials.
CAF Awards is an annual marquee event that honors the continent’s top football performers amid a setting of glitz, glamour and panache.
