Nigeria should’ve beaten Poland – Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey identifies what went wrong

Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey said Nigeria should have won the 2‑2 friendly against Poland, which ended in a draw in Warsaw on Wednesday.

Bassey blamed two late goals in each half for denying Nigeria a victory.

Poland opened the scoring when Terem Moffi gave Eric Chelle’s side the lead, but Kacper Potulski equalised just before the break.

In the second half Paul Onuachu restored Nigeria’s advantage, only for Przemysław Wiśniewski to score a stoppage‑time goal that salvaged a point for Poland.

“We should have got the win. Two late goals in both halves. It shows there was something we could adjust,” Bassey told reporters in the mixed zone after the match.

He added that many players had arrived at different times, with a few joining the camp only yesterday, and that it was important to give them minutes in the legs.
