Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, a logistics and transportation specialist, told reporters that Nigeria represents a vast market for electric vehicles.

Speaking to journalists, Oyeyemi said that investors in the electric‑vehicle sector would not regret entering the market.

The former Federal Road Safety Corps marshal noted that Nigeria remains “one of the largest automotive markets in Africa.”

He added that significant opportunities exist in vehicle assembly, component sales, and aftermarket services within the sector.

During a conference call in Calabar, Oyeyemi highlighted the many benefits of electric vehicles for Nigerians and the socioeconomic impacts they could bring to the country.

Oyeyemi urged the federal government to adopt a long‑term automotive policy that prioritises “local value creation” rather than frequent policy changes.

Reflecting on the 30th anniversary of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), he called on Nigeria to stop “wasting time in the development of policy that changes with every administration, as it adds little or no value to the economy.”

He pointed to South Africa, Morocco, and Ethiopia as models in the motoring world and urged the government to follow suit.

Oyeyemi lamented that Nigeria is “still losing many lives with many families still being destroyed by crashes that could have been prevented had an auto policy been in place.”
