Former Head of State Yakubu Gowon declared that Nigeria did not collapse during his tenure.
Gowon made the statement on Tuesday in Abuja at the launch of his 859‑page autobiography, *My Life of Duty and Allegiance*, titled “No Going Back.”
He argued that overly complex solutions are creating unnecessary tension across the country.
The former military leader also warned that Nigerians often fail to recognize when simple problems are being turned into complicated ones.
Gowon said citizens tend to add layers of complexity and ambiguity to straightforward issues, which in turn fuels national tension.
He believes the book will address these concerns.
“On my watch as Head of State, the country did not fall. And I am confident that, despite all its challenges, the nation still will not fall,” he said.
“My belief is that this book will help correct misconceptions and fill the gap in public narratives,” he added.
