Nigeria coach Chelle explains why he made seven changes against Poland.

Eric Chelle, the head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, explained the rationale behind the seven substitutions he made during the Wednesday international friendly against Poland.

The match, which ended in a 2-2 draw, was played at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw.

According to Chelle, the decision to change seven players at halftime was driven by the physical condition of several squad members who were already on post‑season holidays.

The seven players he brought on were Semi Ajayi, Zaidu Sanusi, Paul Onuachu, Calvin Bassey, Raphael Onyedika, Rafiu Durosinmi and Philip Otele. He also withdrew Emmanuel Fernandez, Bruno Onyemaechi, Terem Moffi, Igoh Ogbu, Frank Onyeka, Tochukwu Nnadi and Akor Adams from the lineup.

“They were already on vacation. That is why I made seven changes at halftime,” Chelle told SportoweFakty.

“Our captain usually does a lot more on the pitch, but after 60 minutes, he was practically gone.”
