Rapper Nicki Minaj has alleged that influential figures in the music industry render talented artists “almost invisible” unless they comply with the leaders’ demands.
According to Minaj, many of the obstacles she and other artists encounter are deliberately set up by these powerful individuals, whom she chose not to identify.
In a recent episode of the Bryce Crawford podcast, she described how these figures treat musicians as “properties” to generate revenue, and how they undermine those who refuse to work under their conditions.
Minaj said she has endured “constant spiritual warfare” for not following the rules imposed by these leaders.
She added that if she had known the industry was fundamentally spiritual, she would have been better prepared.
“It was constant spiritual warfare. I wish I kind of knew sooner that this music industry was such a spiritual experience because I felt like I brought a knife to a gunfight,” she said.
