Rio Ngumoha matched Michael Owen’s Liverpool record in the Premier League on Friday night at Aston Villa, where the Teds were defeated 4‑2.
Ngumoha is already the youngest player to score for Liverpool in the Premier League, following his winner at Newcastle in the season’s second match.
He has now equalled Owen’s record in the penultimate fixture of the season.
The 17‑year‑old made his 18th Premier League appearance against Aston Villa, the joint‑highest number for a Liverpool player under 18 alongside Owen.
Although he started only his fourth match, his performances, together with those of some senior teammates, suggest he could have contributed more.
Ngumoha is poised to surpass Owen next week in the final‑day clash with the Champions League‑chasing side.
