The Nigeria Football Federation’s Refereeing Development Committee has suspended referee Yakubu Adamu from all league and football activities, DAILY POST reports.
Information posted on the official X account of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) indicates that Adamu was sanctioned for awarding a penalty in the Rangers versus Bendel Insurance match, a decision deemed inconsistent with the Laws of the Game.
The committee concluded that his decision influenced the match’s result.
The committee also stated that the decision brought the game into disrepute.
Rangers secured a 2‑1 victory in the 37th matchday, preserving their position at the top of the NPFL table.
The Flying Antelopes and Rivers United will contest the title on the season’s final day.
Rangers will travel to Ikorodu City, whereas Rivers United will host Katsina United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
