Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel would not tolerate any attacks on its soldiers.
The statement was issued on Friday, during which he expressed condolences to the families of a commander and three fighters who were killed by Hezbollah.
Israel had earlier reported the deaths of four of its troops.
Netanyahu said that after Hezbollah carried out what he called a blatant violation of the ceasefire, he ordered the Israeli military to respond with full force.
“We won’t tolerate attacks on our soldiers. The Israeli military attacked more than 80 terrorist targets and eliminated dozens of terrorists. Subsequently, the military struck Hezbollah headquarters in the Bekaa Valley this morning,” he said.
According to the prime minister, the Israeli military will act to neutralise any threat to its forces and its territory.
“As I made unequivocally clear, including yesterday: Israel will remain in the security zone in southern Lebanon for as long as required to protect the settlements in the north,” he added.
