The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has deepened its collaboration with key energy sector stakeholders after holding separate meetings with delegations from the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN). The discussions focused on expanding electricity access and accelerating renewable energy projects.

During a working visit, an AfDB delegation led by Mr. Chigoziri Egeruoh updated NERC on the progress of the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP). The delegation highlighted significant milestones achieved under the programme and outlined ongoing efforts to bring power to underserved and unserved communities across the country.

A note from NERC also mentioned that the AfDB delegation introduced the commission to the bank’s Desert to Power initiative, a flagship renewable energy programme aimed at speeding the deployment of clean energy solutions throughout Africa and increasing access to sustainable electricity for millions of people.

Separately, NERC welcomed a delegation from the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) led by its Director General, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, during a visit to the commission.
