A public affairs analyst, Sumner Sambo, explained why the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) should permit Rabi’u Kwankwaso to assume control of the party’s structures in Kano State.
In an interview on Arise Television’s “Prime Time” on Tuesday, Sambo said Kwankwaso has historically been the driving force behind most parties’ electoral successes, rather than the candidates themselves.
He urged the NDC’s 2027 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to collaborate with the party’s national leader, Seriake Dickson, to bring the NDC into better order before the next general elections.
“The difficulties they are encountering in Kano shouldn’t arise now. Why would Kwankwaso face problems instead of being given the structures in Kano to take charge?” Sambo asked.
“We expect Peter Obi to use Kwankwaso’s influence to demonstrate political leadership within his party. Obi needs to get involved in the substantive work required to organize the party, rather than remaining on the sidelines with Dickson,” he added.
“Kwankwaso has always been the reason most of the parties he has been part of win elections, not because of the candidates he brings,” Sambo concluded.
