NDC Announces Screening Committees for House of Assembly Candidates

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the formation of screening committees that will evaluate candidates for the House of Assembly across all 36 states.

Screening began on Saturday, May 23 2026, and is scheduled to continue through Monday, May 25 2026. The party’s National Chairman, Sen. Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, and National Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu Esq., jointly signed a memo outlining the criteria and procedures for the exercise.

Applicants will be assessed on character, capability, and their likelihood of winning an election, among other factors. To qualify for the party’s nomination form, a candidate must be a current member with up‑to‑date dues and must demonstrate contributions to the party’s growth.

In addition to meeting the constitutional requirements for the office sought, candidates must have no criminal record and must not be under investigation or trial by any anti‑graft agency. The NDC also warned that candidates accompanied by thugs or miscreants to the screening venue risk disqualification.

Each state’s committee will consist of three members: a chairman, a secretary, and one additional member.
