A senior member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Eze Chikamnayo, has accused President Bola Tinubu of orchestrating a systematic attack on opposition parties.
Chikamnayo made the claim during an interview on Arise Television on Monday.
He referred to the Federal High Court decision in Lokoja last week that overturned the court’s earlier ruling which had declared the NDC a “notorious and very dangerous” party and directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register it.
“There is a deliberate onslaught against opposition parties by the President,” he said.
“I want to use this opportunity to plead with His Excellency President Tinubu to stop targeting opposition parties,” he added.
“All it takes for peaceful change is for him to allow democracy to happen. If he makes peaceful change impossible, violent change will be inevitable,” he warned.
For context, a Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, had recently set aside its earlier judgment that had directed INEC to register the NDC as a political party.
