The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has imposed a fine of six million naira on Saudi Airlines for violations related to consumer protection.
In a sanction letter sent to the carrier yesterday, the NCAA explained that, after having helped the airline prevent violence at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport a few months earlier and granting an extension to address outstanding issues and CAA determinations, the penalty is required to enforce compliance with Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023.
Chris Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the NCAA, posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account: “It is also hoped that the airline will improve, exponentially, its Nigeria operations.”
“Paying passengers travelling to/fro Nigeria need to feel protected and respected by the carrier.”
Achimugu added that the NCAA will continue to support Saudi Airlines and all other carriers in operating at optimal capacity.
