The Nasarawa State Police Command announced that two suspected kidnappers linked to the abduction of engineering faculty students at Nasarawa State University, Gudi campus, have been arrested. The suspects, identified as Abdullahi Yeyi Haro, alleged leader of the kidnapping syndicate, and Basiru Abdullahi, are both residents of Gudi.

In a statement signed by the command’s relations officer Rahman Nansel on Tuesday, it was noted that the arrests resulted from diligent investigation and sustained intelligence‑coordinated tactical and strategic operations aimed at dismantling the criminal network responsible for the kidnapping.

The command confirmed that the abducted students have been safely released, reunited with their families, and are now receiving medical care and necessary support following the ordeal.

The statement also highlighted that the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, praised the operatives for their professionalism, resilience and unwavering commitment to the safety and security of residents throughout the state.

He reiterated the command’s determination to eradicate all forms of criminality in Nasarawa State, particularly kidnapping and other violent crimes, and assured the public that investigations remain ongoing to apprehend additional members of the syndicate and bring all perpetrators to justice.

“The command appreciates the support and cooperation of members of the public, whose timely information and collaboration greatly contributed to the success of the operation. Citizens are encouraged to remain vigilant and continue to provide useful information to security agencies to aid proactive crime prevention and prompt response,” the statement reads.

The statement added that the Nasarawa State Police Command remains committed to safeguarding lives and property and ensuring that criminal elements have no place to hide within the state.
