Students of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) who had been abducted by unidentified gunmen have been released after several days in captivity.

The release was confirmed on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, in Keffi, Nasarawa State, following coordinated actions by security forces and members of the community.

Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, the university’s Vice‑Chancellor, confirmed the development and expressed relief at the students’ safe return.

She said, “We are grateful to God that our students have been released safely. They are currently undergoing medical checks and psychological support.”

The Nasarawa State Police Command also verified the rescue but declined to disclose full operational details, according to Daily Trust.

“The students have been rescued. Further information will be provided as investigations continue,” the command stated.

One of the freed students, who requested anonymity, described the experience as “traumatic” but said they were grateful to be alive.

“We didn’t know if we would make it out. We are just grateful to be back home,” the student said.

Nasarawa State police officials have assured residents that investigations are underway to locate the kidnappers and to prevent similar incidents.
