In the run‑up to the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primaries, supporters of Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule have begun grassroots outreach to secure the party’s Nasarawa North senatorial ticket.

At a town‑hall meeting with community leaders in Mada Station, Agidi Administrative Area Council of Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area, Timothy Anjide – chairman of the A. A. Sule for Senate Advisory Council – expressed confidence that the governor will win the party’s nomination and be elected senator in 2027.

He pledged additional infrastructural projects for the Eggon community, framing them as part of Sule’s renewed commitment to good governance, provided the community offers full support during the primaries and the 2027 senatorial election.

Anjide, a former Secretary to the State Government, also announced that the governor intends to commence reconstruction of the deteriorating Mada Station road, urging residents to continue backing the current administration.

“The A. A. Sule for Senate Campaign Council has commenced its grassroots engagement ahead of the All Progressives Congress primaries for Nasarawa North Senatorial District,” he said.

“Governor Sule, having answered the clarion call for Senate, is committed to delivering basic amenities to the area as part of the government’s move to spread development across the state.”

Earlier, former deputy governor of the state and immediate past Director General of the National Directorate of Employment, Silas Agara, obtained his expression of interest and nomination forms to contest the same senatorial seat.

According to our correspondent, a delegation led by campaign council chairman Philip Gyunka met with the Aren Eggon, Justice Ahmed Ubangari Alaku (retd), at his palace in Nasarawa Eggon to seek royal blessings, present the council’s agenda, and request traditional support for a peaceful, issue‑based campaign.

Gyunka explained that approaching the monarch first was intentional, noting that the throne safeguards the people’s culture, unity and values.

“We are here to pay homage, to inform Your Royal Highness of our plans, and to seek your fatherly blessings as we embark on this journey to present Governor Abdullahi Sule’s record of service to the people of Nasarawa North,” he said.

He described Governor Sule’s administration as one marked by infrastructure development, agricultural reforms and inclusive governance, adding that the campaign will aim to preserve those gains through effective Senate representation.

In response, the Aren Eggon, Justice Alaku (retd), praised the council for acknowledging the role of traditional institutions in the democratic process.

He urged politicians to prioritize peace, unity and development over divisive politics.

“Politics should be about service, not division. I urge you to run an issue‑based campaign that will unite our people and promote progress in Nasarawa North,” the monarch said.

Alaku also prayed for peaceful primaries and a credible electoral process, assuring the delegation of his commitment to fairness and neutrality as a traditional ruler.

The visit to the Aren Eggon’s palace is part of a broader itinerary that includes meetings with traditional rulers, party executives, youth groups and community leaders across the three LGAs of Akwanga, Wamba and Nasarawa Eggon.

Speakers such as Barr. Iliya Aliyu, chairman of Nasarawa Eggon LGA; Dr. Justina Anjiode‑Kotso, Special Adviser to the Governor (SSG’s Office); Dr. Muhammad Kassim, Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board; and others, called on the community to rally behind the governor to secure the legislative seat, emphasizing that Governor Sule is a public servant who has excelled in all areas of endeavour.
