With the All Progressives Congress senatorial primaries scheduled for later this month, Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has begun grassroots consultations aimed at winning the party’s nomination for the Nasarawa North Senatorial District.

It is noteworthy that Silas Agara, a former deputy governor of the state and immediate past director‑general of the National Directorate of Employment, has recently obtained his expression of interest and nomination forms to contest the same senatorial seat.

Addressing a town‑hall meeting with community leaders at Mada Station in the Agidi Administrative Area Council of Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area on Tuesday, Timothy Anjide, chairman of the advisory council for “A.A. Sule for Senate,” expressed confidence that the governor will secure the party ticket and win the Senate seat in 2027.

He pledged additional infrastructural development for the Eggon community as part of Governor Sule’s renewed commitment to good governance, provided they fully back his bid to emerge victorious in the primaries and the 2027 senatorial election.

Anjide, a former Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, also assured that the reconstruction of the Mada Station road—currently in poor condition—will commence soon, urging continued support for the administration.

“The A.A. Sule for Senate Campaign Council has launched its grassroots engagement ahead of the All Progressives Congress primaries for Nasarawa North Senatorial District,” he said.

“Governor Sule, having answered the clarion call for the Senate, is committed to delivering basic amenities to the area as part of the government’s effort to spread development across the state.”

Our correspondent reports that the delegation, led by the Chairman of the Campaign Council, Senator Philip Gyunka, met with the Aren Eggon, Justice Ahmed Alaku (rtd), at his palace in Nasarawa Eggon to seek royal blessings, present the council’s agenda, and solicit the support of the traditional institution for a peaceful, issue‑based campaign.

Gyunka explained that beginning with the monarch was intentional, noting that the throne remains the custodian of the people’s culture, unity, and values.

“We are here to pay homage, to inform your royal highness of our plans, and to seek your fatherly blessings as we embark on this journey to present Governor Abdullahi Sule’s record of service to the people of Nasarawa North,” he said.

He described Governor Sule’s administration as one defined by infrastructure development, agricultural reforms, and inclusive governance, adding that the campaign will focus on sustaining those gains through quality representation in the Senate.

In response, the Aren Eggon, Justice Alaku (rtd), praised the council for recognising the role of traditional institutions in the democratic process.

He urged politicians to prioritise peace, unity, and development over divisive politics.

“Politics should be about service, not division. I urge you to run an issue‑based campaign that will unite our people and promote progress in Nasarawa North,” the monarch said.

Alaku also prayed for peaceful primaries and a credible electoral process, assuring the delegation of his commitment to fairness and neutrality as a traditional ruler.

Our correspondent further notes that the visit to the Aren Eggon’s palace forms part of the campaign council’s broader itinerary, which includes engagements with traditional rulers, party executives, youth groups, and community leaders across the three LGAs of Akwanga, Wamba, and Nasarawa Eggon.

Speakers such as the Chairman of Nasarawa Eggon LGA, Barr. Iliya Aliyu; Special Adviser to the Governor (SSG’s Office), Dr. Justina Anjiode‑Kotso; and the Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Muhammad Kassim, among others, called on the community to rally behind the governor to secure the legislative seat, emphasizing that Governor Sule is a public servant who has excelled in all fields of endeavour.
