Naira Depreciates Again Against the Dollar on May 14, 2026

The naira slipped slightly against the dollar on Thursday in the official foreign exchange market.

According to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria, the naira weakened to N1,370.89 per dollar on Thursday, compared with N1,370.56 on Wednesday.

Thus, the currency fell by N0.33 against the dollar from the previous day.

At the black market, the naira remained unchanged at N1,395 per dollar, the same rate that had been in place since Monday.

These mixed movements occur even as the country’s foreign reserves increased to $48.51 billion as of May 13, 2026.

It is worth noting that the naira had strengthened against the dollar in the official market on Wednesday.
