Nigerian businessman Isaac Fayose has raised questions about the recovery of the body of former Nigerian Army spokesman, retired Major General Abubakar Rabe, after his death in a kidnapping incident.
The Daily Post reports that the former military general, who was abducted by terrorists weeks earlier, died on Saturday while in captivity.
He was buried a few hours after the Katsina State Government confirmed that he died from complications related to pre‑existing medical conditions.
However, concerns have arisen over the rapid recovery of his remains shortly after his death.
In a video posted on his Facebook page on Sunday, Fayose questioned how the government was informed of the retired general’s cause of death without an autopsy.
Fayose, who suspects foul play, declared that the country is finished.
He said, “How did they release the body? How did they know where to pick up the body? Who called to inform them that the Retired General is dead? The family said the man died of diabetes and hypertension, who did the autopsy? How did they know that he died of hypertension? They could not release the man when he was alive but they released his body for burial. Meanwhile the Oyo school teacher that was beheaded, the body has not been released till today. The body of the Retired General was released to who and how? The more you look, the less you see Naija don finish.”
