NAF airstrikes destroy terrorist strongholds in Tumbuns and the Mandara Mountains

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) announced that its air component, operating under Operation HADIN KAI, destroyed terrorist strongholds in the Southern Tumbuns and the Mandara Mountains along the Nigeria‑Cameroon border.

Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, made the statement in Abuja on Wednesday.

Ejodame said that precision airstrikes carried out on 19 May targeted key terrorist enclaves at Bukar Meram in the Southern Tumbuns and Chikide in the Mandara Mountains.

He added that the strikes were based on credible intelligence and confirmed by Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions.

According to him, the operations destroyed terrorist logistics hubs, structures and assembly areas hidden within the locations.

Ejodame noted that several terrorists were neutralised during the strikes and that planned attacks were successfully disrupted.

“The Nigerian Air Force remains resolute in sustaining ongoing air offensives to degrade terrorist capabilities and deny them freedom of action,” he said.

Ejodame also reported that Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to coordinated joint operations with sister services and allied partners.

The CAS emphasized that intelligence‑driven air operations would continue to identify and eliminate terrorist hideouts, logistics networks and operational bases across the country.

He added that the continued offensive is part of broader efforts to restore peace and stability in the North‑East and other affected regions.
