NAF Airlifts Electoral Materials for Ekiti Governorship and Nationwide By‑Elections

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) completed an airlift of sensitive electoral materials in preparation for the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election and several by‑elections scheduled for June 20, 2026.

The operation, carried out on June 15 and 16, 2026, was requested by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure the secure and timely distribution of election supplies across the country.

Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, said the mission demonstrates the NAF’s ongoing support for democratic governance through its Aid to Civil Authority (ACA) role.

He added that the materials were transported from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja to designated drop‑off points in Enugu, Rivers, and Kano States, using the Air Force’s strategic airlift capability.

The delivery supported preparations for the Ekiti governorship election and senatorial by‑elections in Enugu North (Enugu State), Nasarawa North (Nasarawa State), and Rivers South East (Rivers State).

It also covered federal constituency by‑elections in Dawakin Kudu/Warawa (Kano State) and Zuru/Shanga (Kebbi State).

Air Commodore Ejodame noted that the timely arrival of the materials allowed INEC to receive them within the required timeframe before the polls.

Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, Chief of the Air Staff, praised the personnel involved, calling the operation a testament to professionalism and commitment to national service.

He reaffirmed the Air Force’s readiness to continue supporting civil authorities while maintaining operational efficiency in defence of the country.

The NAF stated that the exercise highlights its partnership with INEC in safeguarding the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral process.

It added that ACA operations remain a key constitutional role of the Armed Forces, contributing to governance, national stability, and development.

The Air Force further emphasized that the mission underscores its versatility in supporting critical national objectives while sustaining ongoing security operations across the country.
