JOS — Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has sworn in two new commissioners after they were screened and confirmed by the Plateau State House of Assembly.

The appointees are Bashir Lawandi Datti and Ephraim Usman Gar.

The ceremony took place at Government House in Little Rayfield, Jos, and was carried out by Deputy Governor Ngo Josephine Chundung Piyo on the governor’s behalf, who administered the Oath of Office and Oath of Allegiance to the new commissioners.

Governor Mutfwang congratulated the commissioners and urged them to perform their duties with integrity, diligence, and a firm commitment to public service.

He also asked them to align their work with the administration’s “Time Is Now” agenda, which emphasizes sustainable development, accountable governance, and inclusive growth.

The governor highlighted the importance of strengthening governance institutions and enhancing service delivery in key areas such as water resources, energy development, local government administration, and traditional institutions.

He further stressed teamwork, transparency, and a citizen‑centred approach in the implementation of policies designed to improve the welfare of Plateau residents.

The new commissioners are returning members of the State Executive Council; they had earlier served in the cabinet before resigning to run for office, and were reappointed after their electoral campaigns were unsuccessful.

In separate statements, Datti and Gar thanked the governor for the confidence placed in them and pledged to serve with loyalty, dedication, and professionalism.

They assured residents that they would commit to effective service delivery and to advancing the administration’s development agenda within their ministries.
