Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, ADS, has appealed to both Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to fast track the release of students and teachers who were abducted in the state recently.
The society made the call in a statement made available to journalists on Sunday.
Recall that about 39 students and seven teachers were kidnapped on the 15th of May 2026, from some communities in Oriire local government area of Oyo.
The muslim group, in its reaction, described the incident as unfortunate and worrisome.
The ADS Council Chairman, Bashiru Aminu, and Secretary, Mutiu Alade, in the statement, urged the Oyo and federal governments to rescue the victims, noting that the rising wave of kidnappings and banditry requires more proactive steps.
They tasked the governments to deploy all necessary resources to ensure the captives are returned home unharmed to their families.
“The Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria (ADS), Oyo State Council, has strongly urged the Oyo State and Federal Governments to fast-track the rescue of school children, students, and teachers recently abducted in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.”
