The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has urged security agencies to identify and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the deaths of Alhaji Ardo Risku Muhammad and his companion.

In a statement, MURIC called for an immediate, comprehensive, and transparent inquiry into the circumstances of the killings.

Prior to his death, Muhammad served as the Benue State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN).

The statements were signed by Malam Hassan Sani Indabawa, MURIC’s Kano State Chairman and coordinator for the northern states and Abuja.

The statement was provided to DAILY POST on Monday.

Muhammad and his friend were killed on Friday while returning from a peace meeting organized by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ohinmini Local Government.

MURIC described the killings as tragic in its statement.

While condemning the killings, MURIC urged an immediate, thorough, and transparent investigation into the circumstances.

The organization further emphasized that security agencies must do everything necessary to investigate and apprehend those responsible.

The statement read: “We were shocked to learn of the brutal killing of Alh Ardo Risku Muhammad and his friend on Friday, 26 June, while returning from a peace meeting.”

The slain pastoralist leader was a well‑known, respected community figure, peace advocate, and philanthropist.

The manner of his murder, MURIC said, was an invitation to chaos and bloodshed because he was not an ordinary community leader.

MURIC added that security agencies must do everything necessary to investigate and apprehend those responsible for the dastardly act, ensuring they face the full force of the law for attempting to sabotage ongoing peace efforts before other aggrieved parties resort to brutal reprisals.
