Muller suggests Olise could win the Ballon d'Or award.

Germany legend Thomas Müller has expressed confidence that French winger Michael Olise will win the Ballon d’Or, placing him ahead of England striker Harry Kane.

Müller said Olise’s artistic style of play and dribbling prowess give him a stronger claim for the individual award than Kane.

Speaking to SportBild, the former Bayern Munich attacker believes Olise may have the edge in the race.

“With his finishing and attacking qualities, Harry is the best striker I currently see. He’s got a wide range of qualities, but he’s not a player who can dribble past four people,” Müller said.

“As far as the Ballon d’Or is concerned, the ‘artistic element’ is taken into account.”

“Generally, I see Harry as the more important player – but when it comes to the vote for the World’s Best Player, it’s more for players like Michael, with this dance‑like, artistic, ease, magic quality, you can’t learn that.”

“Michael is a player who delivers, a performer.”

England captain Kane is the bookmakers’ favourite after scoring an impressive 61 goals for Bayern this season. Despite the striker’s phenomenal campaign, Olise was named Bundesliga player of the year.

The Frenchman tallied 15 goals and 19 assists in just 32 Bundesliga appearances. Bayern also won the DFB Pokal – thanks to Kane’s hat‑trick in the final – and reached the Champions League semi‑finals.

Each of their World Cup performances will no doubt influence the Ballon d’Or outcome.

Olise joined Bayern from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024 for £50 million. The winger had been close to signing for Chelsea the previous year but instead secured a new deal with Palace, while Bayern ultimately outbid rivals such as Manchester City.
