Muhamed Tijani: Nigerian forward on the radar of 36-time Hungarian champions 

Former Flying Eagles striker Muhamed Tijani faces an uncertain future ahead of the summer transfer window, as several clubs now monitor his situation, reports Afrik‑Foot.

The Nigerian forward is expected to leave Czech giants Slavia Prague this summer after a difficult spell at the club, following a strong showing during his loan in the Hungarian top flight with Nyiregyhaza Spartacus.

Tijani joined the Hungarian side in the January transfer window after his loan at Sigma Olomouc was cut short. The move proved to be a turning point, as he hit top form and became one of the club’s standout performers despite only spending a few months.

The 25‑year‑old went on to score eight times from 15 appearances in the league for Nyiregyhaza Spartacus, helping the club avoid relegation and secure its top‑flight status.

Ferencvaros enter race for Nigerian forward Muhamed Tijani

Ex‑Flying Eagles forward Muhamed Tijani began his European career with Banik Ostrava, and his move to Slavia Prague in 2023 was expected to elevate him into one of Nigeria’s brightest attacking prospects in Europe.

However, things have not gone according to plan. The forward has spent much of his time away from the Czech club on loan spells, including stints with Plymouth Argyle and Nyiregyhaza Spartacus.

His time in Hungary has revived his career, with the striker enjoying the most prolific spell of his professional journey so far after netting eight goals in 15 matches.

Afrik‑Foot had earlier reported that Hungarian side Ujpest were leading the race to sign the former Flying Eagles star permanently this summer. However, they are now expected to face competition from league rivals Ferencvaros, who have reportedly made a concrete offer for his signature.

The 36‑time Hungarian champions are looking to strengthen their squad as they seek to reclaim the league title after surrendering it to Gyori ETO FC last season, ending their seven‑year dominance of Hungarian football.

“I can confirm that Ferencvaros has expressed interest in Tijani, and a deal is very possible if the two clubs can agree on his valuation, and that’s really the main issue right now,” a source close to Tijani told Footy‑Africa.

Other Hungarian clubs still interested

Slavia Prague are reportedly keen on selling Tijani permanently this summer and are not interested in sanctioning another loan move, holding out for a fee in the region of around €300,000 to consider a sale.

That valuation could prove difficult for some Hungarian clubs, including Debrecen and MTK Budapest, despite both sides maintaining an interest in the player. Meanwhile, Nyiregyhaza Spartacus are also considering making a bid to resign the striker on a permanent deal.

“Slavia want to sell him outright this summer, not loan him out again, which is why talks have been moving slowly. Debreceni and MTK (Budapest) have also shown interest but haven’t made formal inquiries yet. Personally, I think he will leave Slavia this summer, even with two years still left on his deal.”

Muhamed Tijani is now expected to carefully consider his next move as he prepares to leave Slavia Prague permanently.

With interest growing in Hungary, a return to the country where he rediscovered his best form is looking increasingly likely ahead of the summer transfer window.
