The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, announced his intention to run for the Agege seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the upcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries.
Obasa made the announcement on Tuesday at a stakeholders’ meeting in Agege, Lagos, after APC leaders in the area encouraged him to vie for the position.
During the same meeting, he urged party members and stakeholders to back Ganiyu Egunjobi, the immediate past Chairman of Agege Local Government Council, who is seeking the ticket for Agege Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Obasa also expressed support for Azeez Oladapo Yusuf Ninolowo’s candidacy for Agege Constituency II in the state assembly.
The declaration adds to the heightened political activity in Agege as the APC primaries approach, with several aspirants intensifying consultations and rallying supporters throughout the constituency.
Party loyalists continue to call on residents and delegates to engage actively in the primaries, as competition for the party tickets gains momentum.
Meanwhile, APC members in Agege, Orile‑Agege, and other parts of Lagos State await the results of the screening exercise conducted by the state and national party leadership before the primaries.
More details later.
