Mourinho finalizes deal to return to Real Madrid

Benfica manager Jose Mourinho has reached an agreement to return to Real Madrid.

According to Marca, Mourinho will leave the Portuguese club at the end of the current season.

Real Madrid will pay Benfica a fee of around €3 million to release the 63‑year‑old from his existing contract.

Mourinho said he declined a new offer from Benfica as he prepares to take over at Madrid.

Los Blancos president Florentino Perez ultimately decided to bring Mourinho back after the team went two consecutive years without silverware.

Current head coach Alvaro Arbeloa, who replaced Xabi Alonso in January, will depart after the final league fixture.
