Messi, who turns 39 today (Wednesday), reiterated that his career decisions depend on daily form rather than a fixed age.

When reporters asked if he could play in the next World Cup, Messi replied, “I don’t know. The truth is, I’m not thinking about that right now,” noting that Argentina will host a match during FIFA’s centenary celebrations.

He added, “It seems a bit far off, but as I said, I’m living one day at a time and focusing on the present.”

He said, “I will continue for some time, as long as I can contribute, feel physically good, and help my teammates. I will keep playing.”

Messi has been a standout in North America, leading the Golden Boot race with five goals in his two appearances.
