MDCN approves MBBS programme for Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has granted approval for the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme at the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO).

A staff member of the university confirmed the approval over the weekend, noting that it also authorises the training of House Officers at the Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital in Otukpo.

This development follows recent protests and concerns raised by MBBS students regarding accreditation issues affecting the programme.

Students had earlier voiced worries about the programme’s status, prompting institutional responses.

The new approval is expected to resolve the students’ concerns and enhance medical training at both the university and its teaching hospital.
