Kylian Mbappé said he is now the fourth‑choice striker in Real Madrid’s squad after manager Álvaro Arbeloa omitted him from the starting lineup in the 2‑0 win over Real Oviedo.

The Frenchman, who had missed the 2‑0 loss to Barcelona and was booed by supporters upon his return from a hamstring injury, entered the match as a substitute in the 68th minute after Arbeloa chose to start Vinícius Júnior and Gonzalo García in attack.

Mbappé told reporters that his fitness was not a concern.

“I’m 100 % fine. I haven’t played because, for the coach, I’ve been the fourth striker in the squad behind Franco Mastantuono, Vinícius and Gonzalo,” Mbappé said (via Bein Sports).

“I was ready to start; it’s his decision, and it must be respected.”

“I have no problem with Arbeloa. One must accept the coach’s philosophy, and I need to improve to play ahead of Vinícius, Gonzalo and Mastantuono.”

Mbappé has been criticised by fans for traveling to Sardinia while recovering from his injury, but he said the club had approved the trip.
