Martin Keown: Arsenal star “surprised me the most” in the EPL.

Arsenal legend Martin Keown extended his congratulations to Noni Madueke on the club’s Premier League title this season.

The former defender, now a pundit, said that Madueke had “surprised me the most” during the Gunners’ remarkable campaign.

Arsenal secured the championship with a 2‑1 win over Crystal Palace on the final day of the season, a victory that was celebrated at Selhurst Park. Madueke scored the decisive goal after Gabriel Jesus had opened the scoring for the visitors.

When Madueke moved from Chelsea to Arsenal last summer, some Gunners’ supporters questioned the club’s interest in the player. At that time, Rio Ferdinand defended Madueke, calling the fans’ reaction “vulgar.”

Now, having silenced his critics, Madueke’s goal in the title‑clinching match provides a fitting narrative for his season.

Keown praised the player’s “incredible” performance after the match on Sunday.

Speaking to Metro UK, Keown said: “Noni, you surprised me the most. Remember at the beginning I said one or two of the fans weren’t sure. But you’ve done an incredible job. You’re now going to a World Cup, you’ve won the Premier League. You’ve now really made a mark at this football club already.”

Madueke thanked the former defender, adding that winning the league and earning a call‑up for the FIFA World Cup with England is a dream come true for him.
