Former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is reported to be the frontrunner to succeed Pep Guardiola at Manchester City should the Spanish coach depart next season.
Maresca, who exited Chelsea on 1 January after disputes with the club’s hierarchy, is reportedly held in high esteem by City’s leadership because of his earlier collaboration with Guardiola.
The Italian oversaw a fruitful period at Stamford Bridge, steering Chelsea to victories in the Conference League and the Club World Cup before leaving midway through the campaign.
Guardiola still has a year left on his contract with the Etihad Stadium, yet doubts remain about his continuation after the present season.
