Senator Kabiru Marafa has been selected as the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for governor of Zamfara State in the upcoming 2027 election.
The NDC awarded Marafa its ticket after a consensus agreement reached during a meeting in Gusau, the state capital.
Aminu Jelani, chairman of the party’s electoral committee, formally announced Marafa as the NDC’s gubernatorial nominee.
Following the announcement, Marafa thanked party members for their support and pledged to provide responsible leadership if elected.
He identified corruption as a key obstacle to development in Zamfara and vowed to promote accountability and prudent management of public funds.
Marafa also committed to improving governance, raising living standards for residents, and ensuring equal opportunities for all people in the state.
The former senator recently joined the NDC after leaving the ADC, a switch that was confirmed earlier by party leader Seriake Dickson.
According to the party, Marafa has agreed to strengthen the NDC and lead its activities throughout Zamfara State.
