Manchester City Agree to Club Record Fee for England World Cup Star

Manchester City have agreed a transfer fee of roughly £116 million to acquire midfielder Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest.

BBC Sport (via Shoot) reports that City are insisting on a £116 million fee, a club‑record for the Citizens, although other reports suggest the deal could be worth a British record of £130 million.

The existing British transfer record stands at £125 million, the amount Liverpool paid for forward Alexander Isak from Newcastle United last summer.

The 23‑year‑old joined Forest from Newcastle United in 2024 for about £35 million and has since made 68 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals.

His strong performances at the City Ground earned him a senior England debut in September of last year, and he was selected in Tuchel’s squad for the World Cup in North America this summer.

The report indicates that Anderson will undergo a medical with City before finalising his move to the Etihad and joining the Citizens ahead of next season.

Although Anderson’s contract with Forest runs until summer 2029, it seems almost certain that he will join Manchester City this summer.
