Manchester United has confirmed the details of Michael Carrick’s new contract, securing him as the club’s permanent manager.

Carrick has been acting as interim manager since the dismissal of Ruben Amorim a few months ago, leading the team at Old Trafford until the end of the season.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the club has approved Carrick’s appointment on a permanent basis.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club’s chief, has also endorsed the decision, and a formal agreement is expected to be signed shortly.

The contract will run for two years, with an option to extend, or it could be a straight three‑year deal, a choice that Carrick has already agreed to.

Under Carrick’s guidance, Manchester United has secured qualification for next season’s Champions League.
