Man arrested for allegedarmed robbery and assault on a motorcyclist in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command arrested 27‑year‑old Abdullahi Gambo on suspicion of armed robbery and serious assault against a commercial motorcyclist on the Gada Maiwa–Zakara Road in Ningi Local Government Area.

According to authorities, the episode took place on May 11, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m. The suspect, identified as a resident of Kanaka Village in Ganjuwa Local Government Area, is alleged to have struck the motorcyclist on the head with a stick during the robbery.

State Police Command spokesman Nafiu Habib stated that the victim suffered multiple injuries, was taken to a medical facility, and is presently responding to treatment.

Police reported that the suspect fled the scene with the victim’s motorcycle. Operatives from the Ningi Division, together with local residents, pursued and captured him shortly thereafter, and the stolen motorcycle was recovered.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime and remains in custody to assist investigators.

The case is being prepared for transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.

In response, State Police Commissioner Sani‑Omolori Aliyu condemned the act and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating criminal activity throughout the state.

He also called on residents to stay vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to security agencies for swift action.
